Synthesis of crystalline carbon nitride with molten salt thermal treatment for efficient photocatalytic reduction and removal of U(VI)

Abstract: It is critical to recover uranium from wastewater containing U(VI) and to ensure the commercial development of nuclear related energy sources. With the rapid development of photocatalytic technology, the extraction and recovery methods of uranyl ions from contaminated areas has become clearer. However, it faces several challenges, such as low charge carrier migration and lack of active sites. In order to improve the e ciency of photocatalytic reduction of uranium, the crystallized carbon nitride (CCN) catalyst… Show more

“…In addition, the theoretical equilibrium adsorption capacity of the quasi-second-order kinetic model is 257.1 mgg -1 , which is similar to the experimental results. This indicates that the quasi-secondorder kinetic model can well explain the kinetic process of uranium (VI) adsorption by adsorbents, and suggests that the adsorption process is mainly dominated by chemical adsorption [45] [46]. On the other hand, the straight line of the intra-particle diffusion model in Fig.…”

“…The recyclability and reuse of catalysts should also be considered. According to current reports, the catalysts used in photocatalysis are usually powder materials [ 70 , 126 , 127 ]. When these powder materials are dispersed into the water environment, they may cause secondary pollution, which greatly limits the practical application of photocatalytic technology.…”

“…Researchers have found that visible light has a wide range of practical applications in the fields of organic synthetic chemistry 36–41 and photocatalytic composite materials. 42,43 Inspired by recent photochemical studies, we report a new approach for the green synthesis of quinazolinones using benzyl bromide and 2-aminobenzamide under mild conditions without additives, oxidants, or catalysts. The optimal reaction conditions were determined, and the gram-scale application of the reaction was examined.…”
