“…It can be seen from the micrographs that all the three TEA/ sucrose ratios produce particles of submicron size. For LiNi 0.5 Co 0.5 O 2 synthesized by a similar solution assisted method using PAA as a chelating agent, the particle size for the material calcined at 750 8C was 2 Am [13]. This method produces a finer submicron size particles even when calcined even at 800 8C for 12 h. The possible reason for the formation of submicron particles is the formation of a mesoporous carbon matrix during the burning of the sucrose which prevents any agglomeration thereby preventing the grain growth.…”

“…Although one of starting materials can be dissolved at high temperature and reacts with another starting material, it requires high sintering temperature and prolonged sintering time to ensure uniform diffusion and complete reaction. Many studies have been devoted to explore alternate routes to overcome these shortcomings [11][12][13][14][15]. Recently, Sun et al [11] reported that LiNi 0.5 Co 0.5 O 2 could be synthesized in a calcination time of 1 h by sol-gel method.…”

“…It is necessary to research for more simple and lowcost new soft method. Most of the soft methods include making precursor and a sintering process, during which, the amount of chelating agent or template, sintering temperature and time will greatly affect the performance of the ending materials [12,13]. It suggests that it is inevitable to systematically study the proper synthetic conditions for a new method.…”
