Synthesis of Mn (III)–porphyrin porous coordination polymers as heterogeneous catalysts for CO2 cycloaddition reaction

Abstract: Two carboxyl‐functional Mn (III)–porphyrins reacted with two metal nitrates (Cr (NO3)3·9H2O and Al (NO3)3·9H2O) via solvothermal method, respectively, to produce four metalloporphyrin‐based metal organic gels (MOGs). To remove unreacted metal salts and DMF, the gels were dealt with Soxhlet extraction and supercritical CO2. Finally, four desired porous coordination polymers (PCPs) were prepared. The newly synthesized PCPs were characterized by FT‐IR, UV–vis, SEM, and TEM. The contrast experiments show these PCP… Show more

“…Until now, it remains an attractive task to find a convenient and reliable method to synthesize cationic metalloporphyrin molecules and corresponding polymers [39,40] . In this work, two different methods were developed to synthesize the benzimidazolium‐decorated metalloporphyrin 1 ZnIL and 2 ZnIL .…”

“…In 2021, Yang and coworkers reported the bifunctional polymers PP-Br-Zn, coincorporated with porphyrin-Zn as Lewis acid and Br À as nucleophiles, that efficiently catalyze the cycloaddition of epichlorohydrin with dilute CO 2 under ambient conditions [33]. Our group is committed to preparing various metalloporphyrin-based porous coordination polymers (PCPs) [35][36][37][38]. In 2020, we reported four Mn-porphyrins-base PCPs that exhibited high catalytic activity under 0.1 MPa CO 2 pressure conditions [38].…”

“…Among them, metal/halogen catalysts react with epoxide and CO 2 under mild conditions, resulting in high yields. The synergistic activation of nucleophiles such as halogen anions (Cl À , Br À , I À ) and metal sites such as Lewis acids (like copper, [13] cobalt, [14] zinc, [15] magnesium, [16] zirconium, [17] etc.) can accelerate the ringopening, which can be confirmed by DFT calculation.…”
