Synthesis of MnOx Water Oxidation Catalyst on Fluorine‐Doped Tin Oxide with a Dual‐Series Cyclic Voltammetry Method

Abstract: This Communication reports an ew methodf or synthesizing manganese-basedw ater oxidation catalysts in situ in aqueous media. The method provides powerful tunability of the electrodeposition process to enable independentc ontrol over the morphology of the catalytic film and the oxidation state of the catalyst. Our results show that the first cyclic voltammetry (CV) series produces af ilm with an anoscale fibrous structure, whereas the second CV series improves its catalytic performance by enhancing the oxidatio… Show more

“…As can be seen, compared to some of the reported visible-light-driven photocatalysts used in the photocatalytic degradation such as Bi 2 O 2 CO 3 microspheres, 76 Bi 2 Fe 4 O 9 /graphene, 77 CeO 2 /Bi 2 MoO 6 , 78 Bi 2 O 3 /g-C 3 N 4 composite, 79 and BiOBr/TiO 2 nanofibers, 80 PEG-doped BiZn 2 VO 6 (0.10% w/v) exhibited better photodegradation effect for some organic dyes. 81 In addition, PEG-doped BiZn 2 VO 6 (0.10% w/v) presented enhanced activity in a shorter photodegradation time relative to other solar light-driven photocatalysts such as porphyrin-decorated Bi 2 O 2 CO 3 , 82 BiOCl/Bi 2 Ti 2 O 7 , 83 PEG-BiOCl, 84 and MoS 2 –FeZnO. 85 This verified that it can be categorized as one of the most active photocatalysts for the removal of various dyes.…”

“…In contrast, we have recently synthesized MnO x water oxidation catalysts through dual‐series cyclic voltammetry (CV) over different potential ranges. This novel method has enabled us to produce catalysts with a nanoscale fibrous structure that exhibits excellent and stable performance towards water oxidation …”

“…This novel methodh as enabled us to produce catalysts with an anoscale fibrous structure that exhibits excellent and stable performance towards water oxidation. [8] In the current work, we synthesize and critically evaluate an earth-abundant electrocatalyst for the hydrogene volution reaction (HER). Platinum and its alloys are considered the "stateof-the-art" catalysts for the HER.…”

“…Since several manganese oxides such as Mn 2 O 3 , Mn 3 O 4 , and MnO x exhibit catalytic activity towards the OER in alkaline solution manganese‐based electrocatalysts have attracted lots of attentions. Recently, Jin and co‐workers synthesized Mn 3 (PO 4 ) 2 ⋅ 3H 2 O which exhibits more outstanding catalytic performance than manganese oxides .…”
