“…However, the stability of the monolayers formed by the ferrocenyl terminated n-alkane thiols is rather poor, especially at high surface coverage. We have shown that introduction of an ester moiety into the alkane chain linking ferrocenyl group and metal surface could significantly increase monolayer stability, even at densities close to full monolayer, thus providing durable platform for sensor application [20]. We found that one of these compounds; 9-mercaptononyl-5'-ferrocenylpentanoate (FcC 4 H 8 COOC 9 H 18 SH) exhibits excellent electron-transfer mediator properties in process of the electrochemical oxidation of AA [21 -23], which can potentially utilized for the electroanalysis of AA and its derivatives.…”
