Synthesis of NiCo2O4 Nanostructures and Their Electrochemial Properties for Glucose Detection

Abstract: In this work, we prepared spinel-type NiCo2O4 (NCO) nanopowders as a low-cost and sensitive electrochemical sensor for nonenzymatic glucose detection. A facile and simple chemical bath method to synthesize the NCO nanopowders is demonstrated. The effect of pH and annealing temperature on the formation mechanism of NCO nanoparticles was systematically investigated. Our studies show that different pHs of the precursor solution during synthesis result in different intermediate phases and relating chemical reactio… Show more

“…Figure C illustrates the Co 2p spectra, which show spin–orbit doublets (Co 2+ , ∼782.9 eV and ∼797.3 eV; Co 3+ , ∼781 eV and ∼796.3 eV), as well as two shakeup satellites. Figure D displays the O 1s peak (M–O) of NCO and is consistent with the findings in the literature. , …”

“…[ 12–14 ] Transition metal oxides exhibit excellent catalytic properties toward glucose oxidation. [ 15–19 ] The shape, size, and surface morphology can greatly improve the electrochemical properties of nanostructured metal oxides. [ 18,20–24 ] As part of the development of modern electrochemical sensors and biosensors, various materials derived from transition metals have been tested for glucose sensing applications.…”

“…17 In the past decade, a variety of synthesis techniques like chemical bath synthesis, the sol-gel method, co-precipitation, electrodeposition, nano casting, hydroxide decomposition, and hydrothermal methods have been reported for spinel NCO synthesis. 19,20 Among these techniques, the hydrothermal technique possesses advantages of having a higher rate of reaction, being pollution-free, having better nucleation control, cost-effectiveness, etc. 21 Herein, we report a substrate-free, one-pot hydrothermal synthesis of NCO micro flowers for the electrochemical detection of flutamide in biofluids.…”
