Alkali metal and ammonium difluoromono(isonicotinoylhydrazinato)cuprate(II) trihydrates, M[CuF2(pyinhH)].3H20 (where M = Li, Na, K, Rb and W; pyinhH2 = isonicotinoylhydrazine), have been synthesized and characterized. The complexes have anomalously low ~6 values suggesting weak Cu-Cu interaction. ESR evidence suggests that all complexes have weakly interacting electrons in the d,z-,z orbital. IR data suggest bonding of mononegative isonicotinoylhdrazine through the enolate oxygen atom and primary nitrogen atom, and terminal and bridging fluoride groups. All complexes are suggested to have square-pyramidal stereochemistry.
