SynopsisPoly-N-methyliminotetrafluoro-l,4-phenylene has been prepared. The polymer was insoluble in organic solvents, but dissolved in concentrated HzS04. It started to melt at approximately 3 0 0 O C with decomposition. The structure of the polymer is discussed on the basis of synthesized oligomers.
Pentafluoro-N-Methylaniline (I)From hexafluorobenzene (18.6 g, 0.1 mole) and methylamine (20 g) in 20 ml light petroleum (60-80°C),3 18.0 g (91.5%) pentafluoro-N-methylaniline, bp 167-169'C (lit.1*2 bp 170-172OC) was obtained. lgF-NMR shifts at ppm downfield to internal CsFs in CDC13 were -10.80, -2.95,1.25 (position p , m, 0; relative intensity 1:2:2).
