This paper reports the incorporation of cassava starch (CS) at various concentrations into a previously developed ZnO/SiO2-semi-refined kappa carrageenan-based film (SRκC) bionanocomposite and evaluates its performance as minced chicken edible packaging. The incorporation of CS into SRκC-based films aims to provide multifunctional food packaging with enhanced surface morphology, thickness, mechanical properties, and transparency. The effect of the incorporation of various mixing ratios of CS and SRκC (CS:SRκC ratios of 1:3, 1:1, and 3:1) was investigated. The results show that the surface morphology, thickness, and mechanical properties of the SRκC-based films are increased by incorporating CS. Interestingly, a significant shelf-life improvement of up to 6 days is obtained for the application of the CS:SRκC 1:3 film as minced chicken packaging. It is concluded that the incorporation of CS into SRκC-based film is promising for extending the shelf life of minced chicken samples.

In recent years, nanotechnology has become increasingly important in the upstream sector of the oil and gas industry, in terms of both perspectives and practical applications. Nanoparticles, with their exceptional properties (chemical, electrical, structural, and mechanical) are proving to be useful for freeing trapped oil. Specifically, silica-based nanoparticles (SiO2-based NPs) are making a positive impact on various aspects of petroleum extraction, such as rheological and stabilization characteristics of drilling fluids, wettability alteration, interfacial tension reduction, and emulsion stability improvements. This review provides a comprehensive understanding of the applications of SiO2-based NPs in enhanced oil recovery (EOR) and the challenges associated with their use. It covers four methods of making nanoparticles, explores how SiO2-based-NP-involved nanofluids affect the EOR process, discusses the underlying mechanisms of nanoparticle-based EOR, briefly mentions how instrumentation is used in the oil and gas industry, and addresses the challenges of using SiO2-based nanoparticles in EOR, while also suggesting areas for future research.

Sau khi đạt sản lượng đỉnh trong giai đoạn 2002 - 2003, sản lượng khai thác của mỏ Bạch Hổ đến nay đã giảm mạnh xuống còn khoảng 2 triệu tấn/năm. Để đảm bảo hiệu quả khai thác trong giai đoạn suy giảm sản lượng hiện nay, các nghiên cứu thử nghiệm và áp dụng công nghệ gia tăng hiệu quả khai thác và hệ số thu hồi dầu trở nên đặc biệt cấp thiết đối với tầng móng - đối tượng vẫn đang đóng góp tỷ trọng lớn nhất trong tổng sản lượng khai thác của Bạch Hổ. Bài báo giới thiệu triển vọng áp dụng công nghệ nano cho tăng cường thu hồi dầu, đồng thời trình bày kết quả nghiên cứu chế tạo, đánh giá khả năng áp dụng hệ hóa phẩm kết hợp nanosilica biến tính và chất hoạt động bề mặt cho tăng cường thu hồi dầu trong điều kiện khai thác của tầng móng mỏ Bạch Hổ.
