Synthesis of Soluble Main‐Chain Poly(Quinolines)

Abstract: Polyquinoline polymers incorporating a bisquinoline moiety along their polymeric backbones have been synthesized and fully characterized. Two different macromolecular architectures were created; either fully conjugated or rigid-flexible main chains with both cases showing improved solubilities in common organic solvents. The monomers' and subsequent polymers' initial characterization was performed by NMR, as well as GPC and DSC techniques. Additionally, the polymers optical properties were evaluated using UV-V… Show more

“…The materials containing N-heterocyclic moieties-such as quinoline moiety-have been investigated for their special properties [16,17]. In the nitrogen heterocylic compounds series, quinoline is an aromatic nitrogen compound with a benzene ring in its structure.…”

“…In the present work, a maiden attempt has been made to incorporate phenolic tetrasubstituted imidazole and tetrasubstituted quinoline into PBZ framework. The tetrasubstituted imidazole was synthesized through Debus‐Radziszewski imidazole synthesis method, and phenolic tetrasubstituted quinoline was synthesized through Friedlander quinoline synthesis, and their structure was confirmed through FTIR, 1 HNMR, and MASS spectral analysis. The synthesized phenolic compounds were incorporated into conventional PBZ during curing process to obtain copolymer networks having tetrasubstituted imidazole and tetrasubstituted quinolines.…”
