Synthesis of Zeolites from Coal Fly Ash for Removal of Harmful Gaseous Pollutants: A Review

Abstract: SO x , NO x , CO x , volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and Hg vapor directly and indirectly harm the atmospheric environment and human health by contributing to the formation of photochemical smog, acid rain, and haze and posing risks of potential toxicity (e.g., carcinogenicity). Therefore, effectively controlling and reducing the pollution caused by these chemicals is critical, and to that end, several methods have been developed, among which adsorption is one of the most common and effective techniques. As… Show more

“…Researchers have identified key applications for FA in the future based on the yearly time series data by recognizing a pattern of development using regression analysis [ 274 , 275 ] and the amount of FA to be used in choice and specific applications have been predicted, as shown in Figure 17 [ 92 , 276 ]. The greatest use of ash, to the amount of 44.19%, was anticipated in the concrete and cement industries in 2020–2021.…”

Wang and Yuan tested the impact of air pollution control on ecological total factor energy efficiency and the moderating effect of ownership structure by using panel data of 37 subindustries of China's industrial sectors from 2003 to 2014.…”

“…In order to assess the effect of fly ash quality on the zeolite made, the use of various starting materials was investigated. The hydrothermal process includes the dissolution of fly ash in an alkaline solution and the synthesis by thermal treatment of zeolite materials [17]. Formation of zeolite performed according to the following chemical reaction:…”
