Synthesis, spectral characterization, cyclic voltammety, molecular modeling and catalytic activity of sulfa-drug divalent metal complexes

Abstract: Complexes of cobalt(II), nickel(II), copper(II), zinc(II) and Hafnium(II) of general composition [M(L)2(Cl)2] have been synthesized [L = 4-(phenylphosphinylideneamino-N-thiazolylbenzenesulfonamide]. The elemental analysis, molar conductance measurements, magnetic susceptibility measurements, mass, IR, UV, NMR, SEM, EDX, thermal and EPR spectral studies of the compounds led to the conclusion that the ligand acts as a bidentate manner. The molar conductance of the complexes in fresh solution of DMSO lies in the … Show more

“…The reduction peak is viewed at EP c = -0.994V and the oxidation peak is noted at EP a = 0.730V. This couple is quasi-reversible and ratio between oxidation and reduction current suggests the process to be simple one-electron transfer 31 . The voltammogram of [Cu(NMPDHAPI) 2 ] displays one oxidation peak at EP a = -0.715V and the corresponding reduction peak at EP c = -1.224V.…”
