Synthesizing Nanoencapsulated Sulfentrazone Herbicide and Optimizing Time and Dose for Season Long Weed Management in Irrigated Blackgram (Vigna mungo L.)

Abstract: Background: Pulses are nutritious edible seeds of leguminous plants, have become an essential part of the human diet. Among the pulses, blackgram (Vigna mungo L.) is an important legume crop cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions of the world. Even though there are so many factors responsible for the lower yield of blackgram, weeds play a major role. Sulfentrazone is a broad spectrum herbicide belongs to the family of phenyl triazolinone. Sulfentrazone has high persistence and mobility with mean partit… Show more

“…Encapsulation with wheat and potato starches exhibited slower release of herbicide because of higher amylose content and molecular weight of starch in wheat and potato starch. Sulfentrazone herbicide was encapsulated using starch via solvent evaporation method for season-long weed control by reducing leaching potential of herbicide [108]. Atrazine was encapsulated by utilizing starch as carrier and resultant formulation minimize the volatilization loss over the conventional formulation [93].…”

“…Pulses, which are the wholesome edible seeds of leguminous plants, are crucial component of the human diet. Blackgram (Vigna mungo L.), a kind of pulse, is a significant legume crop grown in tropical and subtropical areas of the world (Kannamreddy et al, 2021). Greengram typically records poor yield being cultivated under rice fallow/ mixed cropping/rainfed situation with improper irrigation and nutrient management.…”
