Abstract: Defective autophagy is one of the cellular hallmarks of Parkinson’s disease (PD). Therefore, a therapeutic strategy could be a modest enhancement of autophagic activity in dopamine (DA) neurons to deal with the clearance of damaged mitochondria and abnormal protein aggregates.
