Abstract:The purpose of our study was to identify the clinical characteristics, epidemiologic data and histologic features in 29 cases of syringoma with a duration of lesions prior to the observation between 1 and 25 years. Only one patient complained of moderate itching. In two cases the lesion was solitary, in another the papules formed a lichenified plaque. In six patients only the eyelids were involved and in two patients a symmetrical localization on the forearms was observed. The other 18 patients showed generali… Show more

“…[145] There are just six reports of involvement localized to upper extremities and even less for bilateral symmetrical localized as seen in this case. [46–9] General experience and two of the largest series indicate that they are asymptomatic and pruritus occurs very rarely as seen in our case. [410]…”
This report describes an unusual case of bilaterally symmetrically occurring hyperpigmented itchy popular lesions on both forearms of a 50-year-old woman. The woman had antecedent hyperkeratotic eczema of the feet and she had a similar eruption in the past which had cleared with topical steroid application. Biopsy of the lesion showed syringomas. We present this case to highlight an unusual case of bilaterally symmetrical papular pruritic eruption against a background of hyperkeratotic eczema. Some syringomas are supposed to be a response to an inflammatory trigger and we wonder if in this case the eczema acted as an inflammatory trigger.

“…Eruptive syringoma is a rare variant manifesting as a papular eruption with diverse distribution and successive crops, which is classified within the group of generalized forms [2,4,8,9]. Since the initial description in 1887 by Jacquet and Darier [8], about 94 cases have been reported until 2013 [10], and about 103 cases to date.…”

“…First described by Kaposi [1], syringoma is a benign adnexal neoplasm, which originates from the ducts of the eccrine sweat glands [2,3]. It affects 0.6% of the population and can be classified as localized, generalized, familial, or associated with Down syndrome [2,4,5].…”
