Systematic intimidation (bullying) in schools: public policies and pedagogical practices

Abstract

This paper presents the main public policies and some pedagogical practices carried out by schools in the state of Paraná regarding systemic intimidation (bullying) after a tragedy in a high school. In a peaceful city in the countryside of Paraná, two armed teenagers entered their high school and shot at their classmates, having as a justification the actions of bullying practiced against them. Thus, we sought to investigate the work developed in the schools of this city, after the attack, that aimed at preventing and tackling the issue of systematic intimidation (bullying) through qualified listening and the analysis of narratives of the educators of these institutions. This research is endorsed by the Ethical Committee and guided by a qualitative methodology, having semi-structured interviews as a data collection instrument. The theoretical background is based in the studies of Fante (2005), Antunes and Zuin (2008), and Crochick and Crochick (2017). Results point out that bullying is recurrent, even when there are affirmative actions in the institutions.
