Qualitative dynamics of three different loop quantizations of spatially flat isotropic and homogeneous models is studied using effective spacetime description of the underlying quantum geometry. These include the standard loop quantum cosmology (LQC), its recently revived modification (referred to as mLQC-I), and another related modification of LQC (mLQC-II) whose dynamics is studied in detail for the first time. Various features of LQC, including quantum bounce and preinflationary dynamics, are found to be shared with the mLQC-I and mLQC-II models. We study universal properties of dynamics for chaotic inflation, fractional monodromy inflation, Starobinsky potential, non-minimal Higgs inflation, and an exponential potential. We find various critical points and study their stability, which reveal various qualitative similarities in the post-bounce phase for all these models. The pre-bounce qualitative dynamics of LQC and mLQC-II turns out to be very similar, but is strikingly different from that of mLQC-I. In the dynamical analysis, some of the fixed points turn out to be degenerate for which center manifold theory is used. For all these potentials, non-perturbative quantum gravitational effects always result in a non-singular inflationary scenario with a phase of super-inflation succeeded by the conventional inflation. We show the existence of inflationary attractors, and obtain scaling solutions in the case of the exponential potential. Since all of the models agree with general relativity at late times, our results are also of use in classical theory where qualitative dynamics of some of the potentials has not been studied earlier. 1 Here "loop cosmology," refers collectively to various possible loop quantizations of cosmological spacetimes in the framework of LQG and should not be confused with LQC, here defined by the model developed in Refs. We present the results of φ meson production in the K + K − decay channel from Au+Au collisions at √ sNN = 200 GeV as measured at mid-rapidity by the PHENIX detector at RHIC. Precision resonance centroid and width values are extracted as a function of collision centrality. No significant variation from the PDG accepted values is observed, contrary to some model predictions. The φ transverse mass spectra are fitted with a linear exponential function for which the derived inverse slope parameter is seen to be constant as a function of centrality. However, when these data are fitted by a hydrodynamic model the result is that the centrality-dependent freeze-out temperature and the expansion velocity values are consistent with the values previously derived from fitting identified charged hadron data. As a function of transverse momentum the collisions scaled peripheral-tocentral yield ratio RCP for the φ is comparable to that of pions rather than that of protons. This result lends support to theoretical models which distinguish between baryons and mesons instead of particle mass for explaining the anomalous (anti)proton yield.

Different metal acetate salts were systematically examined for the catalytic deoxygenation of stearic acid in the absence of H2 and solvent for the first time. Ni(OAc)2 exhibited the highest activity with 62% yield achieved at 350 ℃ for 4.5 h with only 1 mol% (0.2 wt%) of catalyst. Even with 0.25 mol% (0.05 wt%) catalyst, around 28% yield was achieved within 2 h at 350 ℃ with 89% selectivity to C17 hydrocarbons. The activity based on C17 yields per Ni was 14.5 mol·mol -1 ·h -1 , considerably higher than previous reports. The catalytically active species were identified to be in situ generated Ni nanoparticles (8-10 nm) formed from the decomposition of the metal precursor with stearic acid as a stabilizer. A new reaction pathway of alkane formation from stearic acid via anhydride intermediate decarbonylation under an inert gas atmosphere was proposed. The excellent stability of catalyst was demonstrated by re-adding substrate to the system, during which the activity remained constant through four consecutive runs. The novel catalytic system was applicable to a range of fatty acids and triglycerides with varying activities.
