T.A.C

Abstract: In this paper we shall present the T.A.C. (Télé-Assistance-Collaborative) system whose aim is to combine remote collaboration and industrial maintenance. T.A.C. enables the copresence of parties within the framework of a supervised maintenance task to be remotely "simulated" thanks to augmented reality (AR) and audio-video communication. To support such cooperation, we propose a simple way of interacting through our O.A.P. paradigm and AR goggles specially developed for the occasion. The handling of 3D items t… Show more

“…The shortcomings observed in this system; lie in that this system is focused on guided collaborative remote maintenance and not for preventive maintenance. In 2010, Bottecchia et al proposed TAC System: collaborative tele-assistance [11], whose objective is to ensure a supervised collaborative industrial maintenance task.…”

“…Whether marketing [20], training assistance [7], navigational aid [15], maintenance aid [3,12] or in gaming [28], augmented reality is used in a number of fields. At the same time, the mining sector is currently in a period of rapid expansion.…”

“…But, increasing importance is given more to collaborative principles (Bangemann et al, 2006) rather than maintenance and AR aspects (Bottecchia et al, 2010).…”

“…Sakata and Kurata (Sakata et al, 2003), (Kurata et al, 2004) developed the Wearable Active Camera/Laser (WACL) which allows the remote instructor not only to independently look into the worker's task space, but also to point to real objects in the task space with the laser spot (Alem et al, 2011). In (Bottecchia et al, 2010) a maintenance collaborative system entitled CAMEKA is described, which enables the expert to give visual indications to an operator with an AR display device fitted with a camera. What the camera sees is sent to the expert who can "capture" an image from the video flow, add notes, then send back the enriched image to the operator's display device.…”
