Task-Based Design and Runtime Support for Multimodal User Interface Distribution

Abstract: Abstract. This paper describes an approach that uses task modelling for the development of distributed and multimodal user interfaces. We propose to enrich tasks with possible interaction modalities in order to allow the user to perform these tasks using an appropriate modality. The information of the augmented task model can then be used in a generic runtime architecture we have extended to support runtime decisions for distributing the user interface among several devices based on the specified interaction m… Show more

“…Models specify a behavioral matrix to assist in the adaptation rules development. DynaMo-AID [24] is a design process and a runtime architecture to develop context-aware user interfaces that support dynamic context changes. Aleksy et al [25] defined an architecture that enables the dynamic loading of different elements of a mobile application, including the output components.…”

“…Basée sur CTT [Paternó 1999], la notation Dynamo-AID [Clerckx 2007] est une notation exprimant cette notion de modalité en l'associant à une tâche élémentaire (feuille d'un arbre de tâches) pour préciser l'interaction concrète. Dispositif.…”

“…The work of Hervás et al [14] presents a conceptual model to link context information with pervasive elements in order to personalize the offered services of these elements. Other works, such as DynaMO-AID [15] or the work of Blumendorf et al [16], define a runtime architecture to process context data to support migration, distribution, and multi-modality. However, these works define the adaptation space in terms of the environment and the platform.…”
