Teacher-researchers’ quality concerns for practice-oriented educational research

Abstract: Practice-oriented educational research is increasingly gaining traction in educational research due to its intention to contribute to both educational research and educational practice. Educational researchers have established quality concerns that practice-oriented educational research should meet in order to realise this intention. We argue that teachers' quality concerns probably differ from researchers' concerns. This may explain why practice-oriented educational research faces challenges concerning its co… Show more

“…As is the accepted practice in educational research, teacher research has the intention to contribute both to research and practice (Groothuijsen et al, 2019). They further assert that there are slight differences in the concerns focused by researchers and teachers, and they propose collaboration between teachers and researchers to enhance research and practice.…”

“…They will contribute to guidance in the ethical procedures, sampling, data analysis and reporting of findings. A recent study, applying the theoretical framework of the concept of quality in research, considered the different lenses that teacherresearchers and academic-researchers bring to the quality of practice-oriented education research (Groothuijsen et al, 2020). These authors recognised that teacher-researchers and academicresearchers derive from different worlds of practice and hence bring different perspectives, beliefs, and values to their partnerships.…”
