Teachers’ perceptions and readiness toward the implementation of virtual learning environment

Abstract: The current trend of education is towards the implementation of technology in teaching in order to attract the attention of 21st century learners whereby teachers need to adopt technology-enhanced environment such as the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) in their teaching. This study aims to investigate the teachers’ perceptions and tendency to use VLE as a tool for teaching. The teachers’ perceptions were investigated based on the main constructs of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). The respondents were… Show more

“…Firstly, it has been found out that all the variables are influential and are related to the independent variable. This result supports the TAM in the literature where the two constructs of perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness have been confirmed as having a positive effect on the acceptance of technology [14,41,[119][120][121][122][123][124]. In a study by [125], the variable of perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness are considered as having a strong effect on the acceptance of Zoon as an e-learning platform, and they have a positive correlation with self-efficacy.…”

“…In addition to the test, the interview guideline was developed with reference to indicators of creative reasoning consisting of elements of mathematical foundation, novelty, flexibility, and plausibility. The interviews were conducted over a distance by eliminating physical contact between the researcher and the students participating in the study to provide more comfort for students being interviewed during this pandemic [41], [42]. The interviews were conducted online by telephone [43].…”

“…This trend is predictable as most of the prior studies focused on the individual level analysis rather than organization [7]. The commonly used theories used in the prior studies to understand technology adoption at the individual level include the Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB), the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) [1,11], Channel Expansion Theory (CET) [12], and the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) [8]. While these theories do make significant contribution to the literature, it is important that scholars begin to examine the influence of technological, organizational and environmental contexts on the adoption of VLE.…”
