Abstract: One of the most important indications of the viability of a professional field is formal, published articles in a topical journal. As a new field emerges, its literature begins to appear in a variety of journals, making access somewhat difficult. “…Robbie MacLeod titled his 1963 Presidential Address “The Teaching of Psychology and the Psychology We Teach.” It was published first by Division Two’s Teaching of Psychology Newsletter , the forerunner of this journal, during years that our founding editor, Robert Daniel, called the “fetal period.” Evaluating the 24 years and 59 issues of the newsletter from 1950 to 1974, he identified the benchmark importance of this address, noting, “At what point does a developing newsletter become a journal?” (Daniel, 1992, p. 438).
