Teaching Styles and Teaching Performance of the Faculty of A University in Cebu City: Basis for A Faculty Development Program

This study delves into the crucial theme of enhancing income-generating capacity, recognizing its pivotal role in meeting basic human needs and catalyzing prosperity within communities. The motivation behind this research lies in addressing this significant issue through the lens of microfinancing, a viable solution to the identified problem. Focusing on a group of microfinancing units strategically located in North Cotabato, Philippines, this study follows the experiences of personnel within these units. The integration of digitization into their operational procedures aimed to elevate service efficiency, providing a contemporary solution to the challenges faced. The research methodology employed was qualitative, utilizing purposive sampling to gain in-depth insights. Observations, interviews, and informal conversations with key informants, including loan officers, branch managers, and an area monitor, were integral to the inquiry. Both physical and electronic documents played a crucial role in enriching the data collected. Specifically, the study aimed to identify both digitized and non-digitized operational procedures, elucidate the experiences of microfinancing employees concerning these procedures, observe the effects of digitization, and pinpoint immediate improvements resulting from digitization. Key conclusions emerged from the study. Notably, loan processing was identified as the sole procedure yet to undergo digitization. The digitized procedures, encompassing data management, loan disbursement, repayment tracking, and financial reporting, demonstrated notable advantages, characterized by increased speed and reduced errors. Importantly, personnel satisfaction with digitized operational procedures witnessed a positive upturn. Identified improvements that underscore these findings include digitizing loan processing, optimization of loan officers' client-handling capacity, and fortifying institutional data security.

This study explores the optimization of job performance by examining the interplay of work training, workplace relationships, and workload within the dynamic setting of a call center. The overarching goal is to gain a holistic understanding of how these three elements collectively contribute to fostering a positive impact on workforce productivity. Utilizing a descriptive survey method, the research employed a questionnaire to systematically collect data on the perceived positive effects associated with work training, workplace relationships, and workload on job performance. Following data collection, thorough analysis and interpretation were conducted to derive meaningful insights. To assess the significance of differences between the factors influencing job performance, a one-way ANOVA was applied. The study aimed to shed light on several key aspects, including the dynamics of the work environment concerning the identified factors affecting job performance, the levels of agreement among respondents regarding these factors, significant differences in responses, and implications for improvements. In conclusion, the study highlights that work training, workplace relationships, and workload positively influence job performance, as evidenced by responses from call center agents. However, it is noteworthy that all three factors were rated one level below the highest possible classification, underscoring the need for targeted interventions. Significant differences in ratings were identified among work training, workplace relationships, and workload. All three factors were considered for intervention, with a particular emphasis on workload, which received the lowest rating. This prioritization sets the groundwork for strategic improvements to elevate overall job performance in the call center environment.

The study underscores the remarkable human capacity for resilience and determination when confronted with challenging life situations. Specifically, this research delves into a teacher's interactions with a group of high school students who, due to their unique circumstances, embarked on a transformative journey, overcoming obstacles in the realm of education. The research focused on a private school in Araimiri in the Gulf Province of Papua New Guinea. Employing a qualitative methodology, the study specifically adopts an autoethnographic approach. This autoethnography unfolds against the backdrop of a unique and immersive experience, exposing the researcher to the intricate social dynamics, behaviors, and practices of a group of students. Through keen observations, profound conversations, shared experiences, and the examination of artifacts, the study offers an in-depth and distinctive perspective on the educational landscape during the specified period. The study sought to determine the circumstances that made the experiences of students and teachers significant, to identify key elements of the initial education-related situations of students, to determine the initiatives made to help students improve academically, and to reveal significant findings that manifested through the analyses of the experience. These are the conclusions of the study. First, teachers’ awareness of students' struggles and unique conditions helps them strengthen their teaching approaches. Second, students’ commitment to their lead role in the education process is imperative. Third, teachers’ depth in the understanding of topics and their commitment to teaching help in the ability to simplify complex concepts. Fourth, students’ prerequisite capabilities when introducing new lessons reinforce learning. Fifth, the implemented curriculum should match with relevant assessments that are often provided by the government or industry. These conclusions imply that educational processes are multifaceted and interconnected with components that have to be harmonized to ensure effectiveness.
