“…The TeamSTEPPS program was developed by the US Department of Defense Patient Safety Program and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, and launched in 2006 to enhance performance and patient safety within high‐reliability healthcare organizations (Baker, Day, & Salas, 2006). With a focus on problems resulting from poor communication and hierarchal structures, this broad‐based program applied CRM principles in conjunction with a range of information‐exchange techniques and provided opportunities to practice teamwork strategies (Guimond, Sole, & Salas, 2009).
