Teamwork quality and health workers burnout nexus: a new insight from canonical correlation analysis

Abstract: Background Burnout is evidenced to have  adverse effect on the well-being of health workers. Although several risk factors of burnout have been found, only a hand full of studies have examined the role of teamwork quality. This study therefore sought to explore the relationship between the sub-dimensions of burnout and teamwork quality. Method This is an empirical study involving health workers who have practising certificate from the National Heal… Show more

“…In addition, on the findings of a research journal review that conducted by Alenezi [18] and Tsai [21] stated burnout manifests in anxiety and depression as well associated with well-being and poor performance. Neuroticism or unstable emotions are risk factors for depression [20]. Previous research has consistently found job characteristics the disadvantages, such as high workload, low staffing levels, long shifts, low control self-esteem, low schedule flexibility, time pressure, work and psychological demands, low various task, role conflict, low autonomy, negative relationship among health workers, poor support, poor leadership, negative team relations, and job insecurity [22].…”

“…Work resources are supporting factors related to environmental, social, and aspects organization, including autonomy and social support that function in achieving work targets, reduce job demands, as well as encourage the growth and development of employees [22]. In addition, according to the findings a review of research journals conducted by Wang [20] stated a statistically significant correlation between the quality of teamwork and burnout of health workers shows the quality of teamwork and burnout are correlated canonically. The surge in the quality of team work led to less emotional exhaustion and depersonalization while increasing professional achievement.…”

“…). The canonical components V were then extracted from the second set of variables Y (V was a linear combination of Y Y q 1 , , ) while maximizing the correlation between U and V. This U-V correlation reflected the correlation between the two sets of variables X and Y (37,38). Canonical loadings analysis generated correlations between the original and canonical variables.…”

“…Given that a sustainable well-being-productivity synergy requires leadership behaviors that prioritize both employee well-being and performance, these outcomes encompassed two well-being/relationship-oriented measures, again, one at the collective level (i.e., team cohesion) and the other at the individual level (i.e., job satisfaction), and two performance-related measures, one centered on the team (i.e., team effectiveness) and the other on the individual (i.e., Organizational Citizenship Behavior, OCB). Prior research has already demonstrated a positive link between each of these four measures and enhanced levels of employee well-being ( [39][40][41][42], respectively). Due to their established link with employees' psychological, social, and physical well-being, these measures can thereby also contribute to an organization's social sustainability.…”
