Nylon cord rubber has the advantages of small residual deformation and is easy to lift and lower the tubing string in low-permeability oil and gas reservoirs. However, it is associated with low-pressure resistance and poor sealing performance. To enhance the performance of nylon cord rubber, a three-dimensional numerical model of the nylon cord rubber was established and its accuracy experimentally determined. The Plackett–Burman test, the Steepest climbing test and the Response surface method were used to acquire the polynomial response surface model connecting structural parameters with bearing and sealing pressure. Using genetic algorithms, optimal structural parameters of nylon cord rubber were determined depending on field operation. The reliability of the optimized results was verified by laboratory tests. It was shown that after optimization, the bearing capacity of the expandable packer increased by 25% while the sealing performance increased by 66%. In addition, the bearing pressure was 70 MPa while the sealing pressure was 50 MPa. These measurements effectively met the on-site requirements of high-pressure and fine fracturing in low-permeability oil and gas reservoirs.

In gypsum–carbonate rock assemblages, multistage and complex fluids control the formation of dolomite reservoirs that are a focus of hydrocarbon exploration. It is difficult to determine the types of dolomite reservoirs and their formation mechanisms due to the diverse rock assemblages and multiple stages of diagenesis. In this study, we investigated the petrology, reservoir physical properties, and geochemistry of the 6th sub-member of member five of the Majiagou Formation (i.e. Ma56) in the Ordos Basin, China. These data were used to determine the nature and types of gypsum–carbonate rocks, and constrain their reservoir characteristics and diagenetic history, and fluid-related mechanisms that led to dolomite reservoir development and preservation. The Ma56 was deposited on a restricted evaporatic platform in the North China Craton, and contains three main types of dolomite reservoirs with variable types of reservoir space. Dolomite reservoir formation was closely related to penecontemporaneous dolomitization, karstification, and differential cementation. Early large-scale dolomitization produced dolomitized carbonate sediments that were resistant to compaction and dissolution, which was conducive to the preservation of primary and secondary pores. The intermittent exposure and dissolution of mound–shoal facies sediments, due to high-frequency sea-level fluctuations, was the dominant mechanism for formation of secondary dissolved pores and high-quality reservoirs. During burial, differential cementation occurred due to interaction between fluids and pore size, which determined the extent of reservoir preservation. In general, the studied dolomite reservoirs have undergone multistage diagenesis and alteration, which led to complex and multistage development of the reservoir porosity. However, the reservoir lithology and pore space developed mostly in the depositional to penecontemporaneous stages. Our results provide new insights into the origins of deeply buried dolomite reservoirs in carbonate–evaporite successions.

The relevance of this study lies in the fact that the modern oil market is characterized by instability and high competition. Depletion of oil fields, deterioration of equipment for oil production, price volatility and political conflicts negatively affect Russia’s position in the global energy market. New economic conditions in 2021 are associated with a decrease in demand for oil and oil products, high import dependence, conservation wells to complete the deal under OPEC ++, which will lead to a fall in the market by 3-10%. It is necessary to apply new methods of oil production, one of which is the method of achimovka oil fields. Methods. The initial materials were statistical data from the Center for Macroeconomic Analysis and Short-Term Forecasting, the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, the Analytical Center for the Government of the Russian Federation, world rating reports. Results. The pandemic and self-isolation of 2020 led to the fact that the Russian oil sector lost 50-60% of proceeds from the export of hydrocarbons, more than 50% of its capitalization. To support the industry, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia will allocate 35 billion rubles. until 2024 for the development of new offshore and deep oil deposits. Conclusions. For Russian oil companies, the following is relevant: search for new sales markets (for example, Asia); application of innovative technologies to maintain the profitability of oil and gas production through the development of bazhen and achimovka; development of small deposits and deposits with hard-to-recover reserves.
