Teknik Pembibitan Spesies Kayu Kuku (Pericopsis mooniana) untuk Reklamasi Lahan Bekas Tambang (Nursery Technique of Pericopsis mooniana for Post-Mining Land Reclamation)

Abstract

Characteristics of post-mining land is generally open, extremely hot, extremely low fertility rates and easy to erosion. The selection and utilization of local plant species in the reclamation activities will further provide a guarantee of success, because these types of relatively more adaptive. Pericopsis mooniana Thw.is one of the local species from Sulawesi which is capable to adapt in unproductive land, however the growth of P. mooninana species for clay post-mining area has not been studied intensively. This study aims to obtain data and information on growth and quality of kayu kuku seedlings with various composition of planting media, in accordance with the clay post-mining land. The study was conducted in greenhouse BPPLHK Makassar for four months (May to August) using a completely randomized design (CRD) with 6 treatments media composition. The results showed that seedling growth was better using clay post-mining soil, or mix media of soil, compost, sand and NPK fertilizer compare to mycorrhiza isolates addition for reclamation. The mean value Seed Quality Index of ≥ 0,50 obtained with a mean increase in height and diameter of seedlings of ≥ 19 cm and ≥ 2 mm, and the mean of top root ratio is 2 point.. Generally, seedling's of Pericopsis plants growth well in clay post-mining media similar to seedling growth in soil media, but not require additional fertilizer and mycorrhiza. Pericopsis species is potentially developed for clay post-mining land rehabilitation after four months in nursery.
