Telephone Switching and the Early Bell Laboratories Computers

Abstract: This article summarizes the salient features of seven relay‐type computers designed and built at Bell Telephone Laboratories. Emphasized are features derived from telephone technology and the role played by the Bell Laboratories designs in advancing the computer art.
