Temperature dependence of acoustic property of Ca3Ta(Ga,Al)3Si2O14single crystals

Abstract: The temperature dependences of the acoustic properties of Ca3Ta(Ga1−xAlx)3Si2O14 [CTGAS(x)] were experimentally studied as a function of the Al substitution content x. Five specimens, i.e., one each of X-, Y-, and Z-, and two rotated Y-cut specimens, were prepared from each crystal ingot of CTGAS(x) (x = 0, 0.25, 0.50, and 0.75) grown by the Czochralski technique. The longitudinal wave and shear wave velocities of CTGAS(x) were measured at three temperatures ranging from 291 to 300 K, then acoustically related… Show more

“…Herein, we focus on langasite materials, which are famous for their multifunctionality in optoelectronic applications (Table S1), such as piezoelectric convertors, 35 electro-optic Qswitched laser generation, 36 and surface acoustic wave (SAW) devices. 37 Several langasites with different elemental compositions have been identified including Ba 3 Ga 4 Ge 2 O 14 (BGG), C a 3 T a G a 3 S i 2 O 1 4 ( C T G S ) , L a 3 G a 5 S i O 1 4 ( L G S ) , La 3 Ga 5.5 Ta 0.5 O 14 (LGT), and La 3 Ga 5.5 Nb 0.5 O 14 (LGN). 38 These materials exhibit high LDTs and strong second-harmonic generation (SHG) effects.…”

“…The calculation was based on Farnell and Adler's SAW propagation analysis method for a layered structure. 25) Ohashi et al's material constants for the CTGS 26,27) were used. For the Au film, the constants modified by an isotropic approximation from Neighbours et al's material constants 28,29) were used.…”
