Template-assisted synthesis of core–shell α-Fe2O3@TiO2 nanorods and their photocatalytic property

Abstract: Novel core-shell a-Fe 2 O 3 @TiO 2 composites were synthesized using a-FeOOH nanorods as hard template via a facile hydrothermal process. The as-prepared a-Fe 2 O 3 @TiO 2 composites were characterized by transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and X-ray powder diffraction. The effects of various experimental parameters, including thickness of TiO 2 coating and calcination temperature on the morphologies of the resulted products, were systematically investigated. Then, the photocatalyti… Show more

“…1A shows the XRD patterns of different samples during the preparation process of FeC x /NCNFs and the relevant electrochemical activity in DMA degradation. When the prepared polymer fibers were stabilized in air at 280 C for 2 h, all peaks could be assigned to the phase pure rhombohedral Fe 2 O 3 (JCPDS Card No.33-0664) (Chen et al, 2015), while in the carbonization process, the three most probable phases (Fe 7 C 3 , Fe 3 C and a-Fe) were considered, which have positions around 2q~45 for the most intense maxima. The Fe 7 C 3 phase with 00-017-0333 JCPDS code has distinct peaks at 2q ¼ 50.5 and 53.2 attributed to (202) and (220) crystallographic planes.…”

“…The combination of TiO2 with Fe2O3 to form a core-shell structured nanocomposite can decrease the recombination rate of photogenerated electrons and holes. Moreover, the core-shell structured Fe2O3@TiO2 nano-composites can be used to improve the visible light response of TiO2 [17,18].…”
