Tepidiphilus olei sp. nov., isolated from the production water of a water-flooded oil reservoir in PR China

Abstract: A novel, moderately thermophilic, Gram-stain-negative bacterium, designated strain J18 T , was isolated from a water-flooded oil reservoir. Cells were aerobic, oxidase-and catalase-positive, with a polar flagellum. Growth occurred at 35-60 °C and at pH 6-8.5. The respiratory quinones were ubiquinone 8 and ubiquinone 9. The dominant cellular fatty acids were C 16 : 0 , C 17 : 0 cyclo, C 19 : 0 cyclo ω8c and summed feature 8 (C 18 : 1 ω7c/C 18 : 1 ω6c). The polar lipids consisted of phosphatidylethanolamine, pho… Show more

“…are known as probiotics that are able to produce lactic acid during food fermentation. Some Weissella spp., such as W. cibaria , are currently receiving notable attention as potential probiotics in the field of periodontics . There are only four species in Tepidiphilus , which are commonly detected in geothermal environments . This is the first report of Tepidiphilus from Fuzhuan brick tea.…”

“…Seven of them were isolated from marine water, and the rest two were from production water ( Tepidiphilus sp. J18 [ 67 ]) and soil ( Xenophilus azovorans DSM 13,620 [ 68 ]). Despite the enrichment of these genera observed in PAH-contaminated sites [ 69 , 70 ], related PAH-degrading isolates have not yet been reported, probably owing to the isolation bottleneck.…”

“…The genus Tepidiphilus has so far been described as aerobic, although one strain has been isolated from production water of an oil reservoir (Wang et al . 2020 ; Zhang et al . 2020 ).…”
