Chronic kidney disease (CKD) causes 70% of all death globally. The prevalence of CKD has shown an increasing trend for the past 20 years in Malaysia. Thus, determining the knowledge and awareness of CKD among healthcare students in preparing them to be a good healthcare provider in the future is important. This study aimed to determine the association between knowledge and awareness about CKD among International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) undergraduate students. A crosssectional study was conducted among 108 students using simple random sampling method. The questionnaire was given to the class representative to be self-administered to interested students. It had close-ended questions consisting of Part A to Part D. The scoring given for correctly answered items was one and the total score for Part C was 7 marks. Most of the students were female (70.4%). The mean knowledge score of CKD was 3.65 (SD = 1.12) with nearly half of the students (43.5%) classified as having poor knowledge. Most respondents were aware about CKD (99.1%) and have heard about it from medical personnel (48.1%) and the Internet (25.9%). Further analysis showed that only courses taken by the respondents were significantly associated with knowledge on CKD (p = 0.039). Abstract-Blended learning is getting popular nowadays. Even though many studies have been conducted on online learning, studies specifically on blended learning are still scarce. This paper reports on a systematic literature review about blended learning of 103 journal research articles. The purpose of the review is to explore the status of blended learning research, and identify their themes and categories according to their contents. Twelve themes are identified of the articles examined in this paper. Findings showed that these researches mainly belong to six categories: design, strategy, factors, evaluation, methodology and review. Researches in each category are discussed in this paper. Future directions for research are discussed.

The Graduate Certificate in Higher Education (GCHE) programme is conducted in a blended mode (workshop learning activities and online forum discussion) using the Community of Inquiry (CoI) framework where the three interdependent elements, Teaching Presence, Social Presence and Cognitive Presence, provide the frame to design, facilitate and teach the units in the programme. In line with the framework requirements, the workshop learning activities are designed to engage students in active learning and to build a sense of community among GCHE students who are full-time lecturers. This programme is compulsory for all lecturers except those who have acquired similar qualification or have many years of teaching experience. The Practical Inquiry (PI) model is used to analyze the cognitive dimension of the knowledge-building processes occurring in online discussions. This analysis focuses on the top and bottom 10th percentile of the students' discussions. Incidentally, exploration is the most frequently coded category of messages posted by the students (overall, 38%). The results from the PI model also indicate when there were limited interventions from the facilitator in the forum discussions it did not lead to students adrift. But the cognitive presence indicator shows that it fails to take the discussion to the resolution stage.Hence, even for students who are lecturers with postgraduate degrees "guide on the side" for online learning may not work. The facilitator needs to prompt the students and post messages to inspire them to move on to the resolution stage.
