The analysis of polymeric 2,2,4‐trimethyl‐1,2‐dihydroquinoline

Abstract: Polymeric dihydroquinolines, which are commonly used as antioxidants for macromolecular systems, were prepared by acid-catalyzed condensation of acetone with aniline. The final products may differ in quality according to the purity of the starting materials and conditions of preparation. In the present work, three commercial antioxidants of the type of polymeric 2,2,4-trimethyl-l ,2-dihydroquinoline were mutually compared from the chemical point of view. Some of the components of the antioxidants were identifi… Show more

“…The aromatic rings presumably are stable because of resonance. The main degradation products of TMQ determined in the literature [29] are as follows: p,p′-diamino-2,2-diphenylpropane, methyl, and small quantities of aniline, whose chemical structures contain groups that can be related to the absorptions observed in the TMQ spectrum (Figure 2a). Figure 2b shows the FT-IR spectrum of the gaseous pyrolysis products of sulfur compounds.…”

“…It is found out that heterocyclic compounds containing hydroquinoline derivatives are the basis for a wide range of biological activities [24][25][26] and also have industrial applications such as photo sensitizers in solar cells [27][28][29] and additives to polymers [30,31]. Hence, the construction of new heterocyclic assemblies and functionalization of hydroquinoline compounds have attracted the attention of synthetic organic chemists to further realize their versatile potential.…”
