The application of organophosphorus flame‐retardants in epoxy resin

Abstract: The influence of two novel aryl phosphate mixtures on fire retardancy and the thermal stability of epoxy resin were studied. Combustion behavior, decomposition pathway, and thermal and thermo‐oxidative degradation of the epoxy resin were examined by using the limiting oxygen index, vertical burning test (UL‐94), cone calorimeter test, thermogravimetric analysis, and thermogravimetry coupled with Fourier‐transform infrared spectroscopy. The morphology of the residues from the degradation of flame‐retarded epoxy… Show more

“…The flame retardancy of these polybenzoxazines was shown to be superior to the polybenzoxazine of the commercially available BA-a , which possesses a LOI value of 30.3 . and also superior than polyepoxy of the commercially available DGEBA epoxy resin, with LOI values around 20.5 to 24.6. …”

“…As observed from Figure 8(A), compared with pure RPUF, RPUF/PA‐Pi composites exhibited higher SPR value. Combined with Table 5, it can be seen that RPUF/PA‐Pi composites exhibited lower carbon residue compared with that of pure RPUF, which may come from the oxidation process of the carbon residue in the existence of air 46,47 . While in the later combustion period, SPR value of RPUF/PA‐Pi were decreased significantly, which had the same trend compared with HRR.…”

“…The presence of ZrO bonds can be detected at 769 cm −1 , which indicates the successful synthesis of UiO‐66‐NH 2 28 . Compared with pure UiO‐66‐NH 2 , the infrared spectrum of U‐T shows a new medium strength peak located at 1035 cm −1 , which is the POC antisymmetric stretching vibration peak of phosphate ester, proving that the synthesized U‐T has adsorbed TEP 29 …”
