The application of wireless near infrared spectroscopy on detecting peripheral circulation in patients with diabetes foot ulcer when doing Buerger's exercise

Abstract: Buerger's exercise could increase peripheral HbO2 and total Hb circulation in patients with diabetes foot ulcer. The NIRS could continuously and quantitatively monitor real-time peripheral circulation in postural changes and is novel to rehabilitation program. A larger scale study to prove the accuracy of NIRS system in detecting peripheral circulation could be worthwhile. Lasers Surg. Med. 49:652-657, 2017. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

“…After a detailed assessment, we included 6 studies. 38-43 We excluded 25 studies retrieved in full text due to the following reasons: inclusion criteria were not met (n = 18) 44-61 ; presented as a debate article, conference abstracts, trial registrations (n = 5) 62-66 ; and duplicate data (n = 2). 67,68…”

“…A citation search in Web of Science of all 6 included studies yielded 3 additional studies. Huang et al 69 presented data for 3-month follow-up of the same population of patients as Chen et al, 40 Chang et al, 70 and finally Nwankwo et al 71 Authors of the 3 trial registrations 64-66 were contacted by email in order to obtain unpublished data. Two replies were received: Jørgensen provided his PhD thesis 72 including data from NCT02785198 65 and the same data from the conference abstract originally excluded.…”

“…The near-infrared light can provide a better penetrating depth in the living tissue. Measuring the blood flow information in the regional tissue including skin, fat, and muscle can be obtained with the aid of NIRS [36][37][38][39][40]. With the aid of the fundamental principle of near-infrared spectroscopy, this novel optic fiber technique might be helpful for guiding our needle tip into the trachea.…”
