(A) An elongated, dysplastic megakaryocyte with hypolobulation of the nucleus, surrounded by predominantly immature lymphocytes. The 2 largest cells with pale cytoplasm are presumptive myeloblasts (arrows). (B) A rubriblast (arrow) with a rim of intensely basophilic cytoplasm and a polychromatophilic rubricyte (arrowhead) are close to large lymphoid cells with very prominent nucleoli.
