Abstract:The determination of retinal diastolic arterial pressure by ophthalmodynamometry is described. In both normal and hypertensive subjects there was an average difference of 20 mm. Hg between retinal and brachial arterial diastolic pressures. The clinical usefulness of this procedure was demonstrated in patients with obstructive lesions in the internal carotid artery.
