The complete chloroplast genome sequence of Laplacea alpestris and its phylogenetic position

Abstract: Laplacea alpestris is a member of the genus Laplacea, which distributes in Central and South America. Genetic information of L. alpestris would provide guidance for the phylogenetic position of this species. Here, we reported and characterized its complete chloroplast (cp) genome using Illumina pair-end sequencing data. The total chloroplast genome size of this species was 157,211 bp, including inverted repeats (IRs) of 26,103 bp, separated by a large single copy (LSC) and a small single copy (SSC) of 86,749 a… Show more

“…Tribe Stewartieae has rich endosperm, tribe Gordonieae contains a thin layer of endosperm and tribe Theeae has no endosperm 51 . A number of subsequent phylogenetic studies related to Theaceae have reached similar conclusions 1 , 5 , 24 , 52 . However, due to incomplete sequencing data, none of these studies included all the Chinese Polyspora species.…”

“…Therefore, the complete cp genomes have become an ideal model for evolutionary and comparative genomic studies, which can provide important basis for revealing the phylogenetic and evolutionary relationships of phytogroup 22 . Though some researchers had used cp genome data to explore the phylogenetic relationships of some species in Polyspora 11 , 23 , 24 , the selected DNA fragments were few, and the structural characteristics of the whole cp genome had not been analyzed in greater detail.…”
