The complete mitochondrial genome of Lutjanus ophuysenii and phylogenetic analysis

Abstract: The complete mitochondrial genome of Lutjanus ophuysenii was analyzed by the next-generation sequencing. It was composed of 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 transfer RNA genes (tRNA), 2 ribosomal RNA genes (rRNA), and a control region with a total length of 16,498 bp. This mitochondrial genome has a base composition of 27.78% A, 16.55% G, 30.68% C, and 24.98% T. The phylogenetic analysis revealed that the L. ophuysenii has the closest relationship with L. votta. This mitochondrial genome provides important i… Show more

“…Among the five species, the number of codon usage ranges from 3800 (P. auricilla, P. filamentosus, P. sieboldii) to 3803 (P. argyrogrammicus, P. zonatus). Leu (CUU, CUC, CUA, and CUG), Ala (GCU, GCC, GCA, and GCG), and Thr (ACU, ACC, ACA, and ACG) are the most frequently used amino acids, while Cys (UGU and UGC) is the least frequently used, similar to other species of the family Lutjanidae (Figure 4) [33,34]. The analysis of the relative synonymous codon usage (RSCU) indicates a preference for using A and C in the third position of codons (Figure 5).…”
