THE CONDUCTIVITY AND VISCOSITY OF SOLUTIONS OF LITHIUM NITRATE IN CERTAIN BINARY ALCOHOLIC SYSTEMS1

Abstract: The emission spectra of toluene, ethylbenzene, o-, m-and p-xylene have been photographed using the Tesla discharge as a means of excitation ; they are found to contain a number of bands generally accompanied by a continuous background. The numerical data are in agreement with previous measurements. A comparison of these spectra indicates that substitution produces a profound disturbance in the electrical and magnetic symmetry of the benzene ring.
