The correlation between monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 and the arthritis of systemic lupus erythematosus among Chinese

Abstract: Monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP1) polymorphism has been reported to be associated with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). However, the correlation between the polymorphism and SLE is poorly understood. In this study we investigated the role of this polymorphism together with that of chemokine SDF1-3'A and chemokine receptor CCR2-V64I. The association between gene polymorphism and SLE was explored by way of a case-control study. In 143 patients with SLE and 157 healthy controls, the polymorphisms of SD… Show more

“…But on the other hand, our results matched studies by Ye et al, Warchol et al, and Lian LH who had genotyped the CXCL12-3′G801A polymorphism in Chinese, Poland, and Malaysian subjects, respectively, and found no association of CXCL12-3′G801A polymorphism with SLE (Ye et al 2005;Warchol et al 2010;Lian et al 2011).…”

“…Worldwide figures indicate a frequency of 64 % amongst the Chinese, Japanese and Koreans; 47 % amongst the Asians and lower frequencies of 21 % amongst the Hispanics and Afro-American populations. Our figures are comparable to those of Chinese amongst the Northeastern population that could probably be attributed to their Tibeto-Burman origin [29].…”

“…Amplification of the promoter region of the RANTES gene was carried out via PCR with primers, as described in a previous study (Ye et al, 2005a). The 20-µL amplification reaction contained 10 ng genomic DNA, 2 µL 10X Taq buffer with KCl, 1.5 mM MgCl 2 , 0.075 mM dNTP mixture, 0.375 µM of each forward and reverse primers, and 0.75 U Taq DNA polymerase.…”

“…One of the SNPs that is present at position 28 in the promoter region of the RANTES gene, has a cytosine (C) to guanine (G) variation. This polymorphism is proposed to elevate the promoter activity of RANTES, increasing the expression of RANTES in humans (Ye et al, 2005a).…”
