Valorizing the cultural potential of the Valjevo region is vital for tourism development for several reasons. Cultural heritage sites, including monasteries, churches, ethno-villages, and traditional events, represent a rich heritage and serve as a valuable tourist resource. Preserving and promoting these elements not only attracts tourists but also provides them with an authentic experience. Cultural tourism significantly contributes to the local economy through various activities such as tourism, souvenir trade, hospitality, and accommodation. Furthermore, the promotion of cultural heritage encourages the preservation of tradition and community identity. This paper demonstrates how cultural potentials influence the development of tourism and the economy of the Valjevo region. The results are based on a combination of different research methods on cultural resources in the region, which provide a foundation for their valorization. The approach involved engaging the local population and potential visitors through questionnaires, qualitative-quantitative methods, and Hilary du Cros' methods for cultural potential valorization. By implementing smart planning and management strategies, Valjevo's cultural potential can form the basis for developing various forms of tourism, including cultural, rural, religious, and gastronomic tourism. Investing in restoring and promoting cultural monuments and events helps diversify tourism offerings, attracting visitors from different backgrounds. Therefore, valorizing the cultural potential of the Valjevo region is not just an investment in tourism but also a means of preserving identity, fostering economic development, and promoting local culture.
