“…In contrast to the colloid of thyroid follicles, the amorphous materials in cyst lumens fixed in Bouin's solution were densely stained by the slightly diluted 19Sthyroglobulin antiserum. A previous autoradiographic study (Kameda, 1982) indicated that in dog Ccell complexes, colloid-like materials in the cyst lumens were intensely immunoreactive to the slightly diluted 19s-thyroglobulin antiserum but accumulated little radioiodine. It appears that the cysts in thyroid parenchyma, parathyroid IV, and thymus IV as well as those in C-cell complexes secrete thyroglobulin-like materials but are not involved in the synthesis of thyroid hormones.…”
