4 HISTORY of the development and uses of the oxygen-A ask combustion technique o f ;inaIysis is presented in the review article by Schijniger.' 'This t1-p of snalJ-sis is popular bccause of its simplicity, ease of operation and the comparatively sliort time irivolved in making the cletcrminiition. It is advisable, however, to observe a11 sit fety precautions recommended for combustions of this type. Combustions should be concluctcd behind ;L safety glass shield with protective covering for the hands. AIl combustions in connection with this work were noted to bc safe and without incident.
