Post-traumatic growth is a significant social issue in the management of active aging in elderly people. This study investigates the influence of familism emotions on post-traumatic growth (PTG) of the elderly, and the mediating role of Taoist personality and sense of community (SOC) therein, to provide a scientific basis for the development of positive aging in the elderly. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in several communities of Hubei Province in China. A total of 338 elderly people were investigated with the Familism Emotion Scale, PTG Scale, Taoist Personality Scale and SOC Scale. SPSS 23.0 was used to derive descriptive statistics and conduct a common method bias test, Pearson correlation analysis, and multiple stepwise regression analysis. Mplus 7.3 was used for structural equation modeling to test the significance of parallel mediation effects on the data. Results:The results show that: (1) Familism emotions, Taoist personality and SOC are positively correlated with PTG; (2) Familism emotions, Taoist personality and SOC can all positively predict PTG in the elderly; (3) Both Taoist personality and SOC partially mediated the link between familism emotions and PTG in the elderly. Conclusion:In the context of particularly constraining societal events such as COVID-19, it is necessary to pay careful attention to the impact of external environmental influences upon the elderly, such as family and community, and to encourage elderly people to cultivate a more Taoist personality. The formation of a Taoist personality offers a promising new focus for research in elderly healthcare.

Background: Post-traumatic growth refers to positive changes that occur after a traumatic event, and these changes can be influenced by an individual's personality traits. Objectives: The present study aims to predict post-traumatic growth based on the five major personality traits in those who recovered from COVID-19. Methods: This study used a descriptive correlational approach. The statistical population consisted of recovered people from COVID-19 in Ilam in 2021, and 200 people were selected using the convenience sampling method. The research tools included the five major personality traits questionnaire (NEO-FFI) and the Post-Traumatic Growth Inventory (PTGI). Data were analyzed by Pearson correlation and stepwise regression analysis using SPSS-26. Results: The findings revealed a significant relationship between the five major personality traits and post-traumatic growth. Accordingly, there was a significant negative relationship between neuroticism and post-traumatic growth and its subscales. Additionally, a significant positive relationship was found between extroversion, openness, agreeableness, and conscientiousness with the total score of post-traumatic growth and its subscales. Stepwise regression analysis showed that the five major personality traits significantly explain the post-traumatic growth rate (F = 73.644). Conclusions: Providing medical and psychosocial interventions and training can stimulate psychological adjustment, improve mental health, and ultimately prevent the complications of mental problems caused by the pandemic. According to the results of the present research, it is suggested to pay attention to PTG components and personality traits as a model to reduce the severity of mental complications when working with patients who have recovered from COVID-19.

Background: Emotional adjustment skills have recently been proposed as a new framework in the prevention of addiction in students. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of training emotional regulation skills on reducing addiction ability in high school male students. Methods: The statistical population of the present quasi-experimental study with a pre-test, post-test design and a control group was male high school students in Tabriz District 3 in the academic year 2018-2019. Accordingly, using the cluster sampling method, the students of one school were selected as the statistical sample and those with higher than the average score (above 21) were selected randomly and divided into the experimental (n=25) and control (n=25) groups. The experimental group was subjected to Emotional regulation skills training for 8 sessions, each session lasting 90 minutes for two months. During this period, the control group received no intervention. Theoretical Addiction Questionnaire was used for data collection. Covariance analysis was used to analyze the results. Results: Data analysis showed that training of emotional regulation skills has an impact on reducing the addiction of talented students. Conclusion: Training emotional regulation skills has an impact on reducing the addiction of talented students. emotion regulation skills training can also be used as a coping approach in adolescent education that should be targeted by reference groups, such as counselors, school coaches, and social planners.
