The distant young embedded stellar cluster CBJC 8 associated with G085.40-0.00

Abstract: Context. The infrared cluster CBJC 8 is associated with a 6.7 GHz methanol maser and a compact radio-continuum source, G85.40-0.00. It is located at a distance of about 8 kpc.Aims. The aim is to study the characteristics of this distant and compact embedded cluster and derive the properties of its stellar population. Methods. We present new ground-based near-and mid-infrared imaging observations of this region. The calibrated images were analysed together with archive Spitzer IRAC images. Results. Based on the… Show more

“…To our knowledge, a previously unknown ex-OH maser emission at 6035 MHz was detected for the first time by this present study toward a known methanol 6.7 GHz maser source with a distance of 5.5 kpc (Lumsden et al 2013) and young stellar cluster CBJC 8 (Persi et al 2011). The RCP component is more intense compared to the LCP component.…”

“…The 6035 MHz spectrum is markedly polarised (m C = 54%) and the peak velocity lies at the lowvelocity edge of the CH 3 OH and H 2 O maser spectra (Szymczak et al 2012;Urquhart et al 2011) very close to the systemic velocity of −35.8 km s −1 derived from NH 3 lines (Urquhart et al 2011). This new source is associated with an embedded stellar cluster of very young stars (Persi et al 2011) where the 6668 MHz maser coincides within 0. 3 with a compact HII region detected at centimetre wavelengths (Urquhart et al 2009;Hu et al 2016).…”
