Sustainability has been a debatable topic for decades, which is why this study is conducted. Initially, sustainability was used as a corrective action and was directly related to the issue of climate change due to industrialization, so the idea of a sustainable and environmentally friendly business emerged. The effect of sustainability on the company's financial performance needs to be highlighted to prove whether sustainability activities generate competitive advantages and benefit the company or whether these activities are costly for the company. This study aims to analyze the effect of sustainability on a company's financial performance. We use Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) scores from Thomson Reuters Datastream to represent sustainability. The sample used in this research consists of manufacturing companies throughout ASEAN-5 countries from 2016-2020. The result revealed a significant negative effect of ESG on financial performance if ROE and OPM measure it. Environmental alone does not significantly impact financial performance, social has a significant negative effect on ROA, ROE, and OPM, and governance has a negative impact on ROA.

The COVID-19 pandemic starting in 2019 in Wuhan, China, adversely affected social and economic life all over the world. Many scientific studies and reports by international organisations show that particularly industrial activities have declined drastically due to the pandemic. This purpose of the study is to reveal the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the manufacturing industry in Şanlıurfa province regarding the number of investment certificates, investment value and the number of jobs created. In this context, industry data of the years prior to and after the year 2019 were obtained from the Turkish Ministry of Industry and Technology. These data were analysed by qualitative and quantitative methods. According to the findings of the study, there was an increase in the number of investment certificates (37.4%) and the investment value (211.9%) but a decline in the number of jobs created (3.3%) in the manufacturing industry in Şanlıurfa in 2020, compared to 2018. However, in the first half of 2021, the number of investment certificates issued was equivalent to 84.6%, the investment value 175.7%, and the number of added jobs 36.9% of 2018. Reasons such as the economic support measures taken during the pandemic, the incentives that given to the Şanlıurfa province, supplying raw materials within the provincial boundaries have a considerable place in the manufacturing sector in Şanlıurfa to be less affected by the pandemic.

This study aims to investigate the impact of digital supply chains and smart technology on the operational performance of the manufacturing industry. Due to the lack of knowledge and guidance in this area, the adoption of smart technology throughout the supply chain is limited, leading to poor operational performance. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate how smart technology and digital supply chain transformation can improve operational performance. To test hypotheses and accomplish study goals, the Resource-Based View (RBV) theory was combined with a quantitative research strategy. The study population of companies was obtained from a manufacturing directory, and a minimum sample size of 107 companies was determined using G*Power. Additionally, 600 online surveys were sent to the manufacturing companies, resulting in a response rate of 17.83%. Data analysis was conducted using Smart-PLS 4.0 software, and eight of the 10 hypotheses were supported. The findings showed that smart technologies completely mediate the link between digital transformation and relationship performance, emphasizing the need for manufacturing organizations to focus on incorporating smart technology into their supply chain to enhance operational performance. The study concludes by presenting theoretical and practical implications, limitations, and recommendations.
