“…The temperature seasonality (25 C in winter to þ10 C in summer) in the Middle Urals for the Late Pleistocene was estimated by Velivetskaya et al (2011) assuming 50% damping of the seasonal d 18 O signal in bison teeth, based on an experimental dampening factor of 50e70% for modern cattle (Fricke et al, 1998;Kohn, 2004), a close analogue to bison.
