The Effect of Nano-Materials on Hot Mixture “Asphalt-Concrete”

Abstract: During the past years different researchers have studied the causes of failure of flexible pavements and they offered variety of alternatives for solving these failure problems such as rutting, fatigue and low temperature cracking which are sourced from moisture susceptibility and also temperature sensitivity of either asphalt, aggregate or the asphalt mixture as a whole. This study is conducted to determine the optimum amount and potential applicability of zycotherm nanomaterial in asphalt and asphalt concret… Show more

“…Furthermore, as compared to base bitumen at 70 °C, the zycotherm modified binder exhibited an improvement of 8.14 % in terms of potential rutting resistance. Previous studies have revealed similar findings, indicating that the addition of zycotherm has an impact on rutting resistance [40,47], but this value rose dramatically after the addition of nanosilica. According to the outcomes of the modified binders, the incorporation of nanosilica to base and zycotherm binders resulted in considerable enhancement levels at all temperatures.…”

“…Ibrahim and Mehan conducted a study involving DSR and BBR assessments. The study revealed increments in rutting parameter (G*/sin δ), fatigue parameter (G* sin δ), creep stiffness, and also the m-values for each zycothermmodified asphalt binder, and when 0.5 % of zycotherm was added, all these outcomes reflected higher values [40].…”

“…They also found that as the content of deicing agent increases the deicing effectiveness is stronger while the mechanical performance degraded [16]. As indicated by research conducted on determining the optimal value of Nano-Zycotherm that is added to the bitumen and asphalt, Nanno-Zycotherm increases resistance when faced with moisture, rutting, exhaustion and cracks at low temperature [17]. Moghadas Nejad et al [18] conducted a study to evaluate the effect of Zycosoil on resistance when faced with moisture in asphalt, and they concluded that Zycosoil increases fatigue life and leads to a better resistance when faced with moisture.…”

“…In addition, it was observed that an enhancement of the asphalt binder concerning the rutting performance was attained as a result of Nano-ZycoTherm adjustments. Ibrahim and Mehan [24] conducted a study involving DSR and BBR assessments. The study revealed an increment in the rutting parameter (G*/sin δ), fatigue parameter (G*.…”
