The effect of proteoglycans inhibited on the neurotropic growth of salivary adenoid cystic carcinoma

Abstract: Xylosyltransferase-I gene of SACC cells was silenced by RNA interference technology, proteoglycans secretion was reduced and neurotropic invasion behavior of SACC was inhibited obviously.

“…Cytological examination is an important means of clinical disease diagnosis (Bromberg et al, 2007;Mosterd et al, 2008; Hao et al, 2011;Venugopal and Prasad, 2015). Exfoliated cells from blood, cerebrospinal fluid, spinal fluid, chest water and mucous liquid can provide a large amount of clinical information (including cell morphology, cell type, and cell proportion, etc.…”

“…However, it is not clear what the role of neoplastic myoepithelial cells secreting proteoglycan is. A few years ago, the Wang research group revealed that the XT-I gene of SACC cells was silenced by RNAi, and the reduction of proteoglycans inhibited cell adhesion, neurotropic invasion, and lung metastasis [ 12 , 13 ]. Furthermore, the effect of XT-I gene silencing on the implanting growth of SPA is not known.…”

“…3,19,24,26 Proteoglycans are one of the major components of the ECM and are produced in large amounts by myoepithelial cells from salivary gland tumors. In this respect, Zhang et al 27 inhibited the synthesis of proteoglycans in an ACC cell lineage and then injected these cells into nude mice. They observed that these cells lost their ability of migration and perineural invasion.…”
